Rockway's Semi-Pro, Reserve and Junior Leagues

Amateur Preparatory Tournament.
It didn't take long after baseball's arrival on Rockway for schools across the island to take up playing the sport. Initially competition was limited to informal contests between classes, but, with the advent of organised competition, Rockeans soon saw the benefits of having a more formalised training grounds for younger players looking to make their way into the professional game.

With that goal, beginning in the Spring of 1887, the Tournament was established, to be played between four representative teams made up of the most talented 15-19 year olds on the island. Though players are drawn from around the nation, all the contests of each 18 game season take place in Johnstown during March and April.

The teams taking to the diamond in the competition are the Dominion Club, the Friendship Club, the King James club, and the Queen Victoria Club.
